The National Care Service provides the practical care and safeguarding support allocated to it, including supervised casework, referral, continuity and local service support.
The service is not an NHS clinical provider, a statutory social services authority or an independent police or judicial body.
Responsibilities
- Access care support — Information about contact, triage, care support allocation and casework.
- Safeguarding intake — Recognising concerns, accurate records and referral to the responsible authority.
- Support for young people — Age-appropriate practical support and education safeguarding referrals.
- Care continuity — Named staff, handovers, scheduled support and safe case closure.
- Complaints and service quality — Service complaints and quality assurance, distinct from the independent regulator.
